This assignment was definitely the most fun. the assignment was to work subtractively as well as additively. We were required to cover a white, regular piece of paper in charcoal and to make our drawing by erasing the image. Well, naturally, I worked at the aquarium for a bit in 2020, and I learned in the wild, there is a species of Sea Jellu (the updated term for a “jellyfish”) that glows in the dark and live deep in the ocean. My thought was, that I could capture the idea of this amazing creature glowing from the inside out. Using an electric eraser, a rubber eraser, a smudging cloth, and a clay eraser, I brought that Idea to life.
